David K. Roemer, PhD | Educator (Retired)| Edward R. Murrow High School

David Roemer became involved in the field of theology because he was inspired by W. Norris Clarke, his metaphysics teacher. Father Clarke got a standing ovation at the end of his class, and Dr. Roemer never saw that before in a teacher. Furthermore, Father Clarke was extremely logical and rational and made everything clear, so a lot of things Dr. Roemer incorporated in his teachings were derived from this mentor. Dr. Roemer prepared for his career as an educator by earning a Bachelor of Science in physics from Fordham University in 1964 and a PhD in the subject from New York University in 1971. He later received an MBA from Pace University from the Lubin School of Business in 1980.

Prior to teaching, Dr. Roemer worked as a manager of radiation therapy products at Litton Medical Systems from 1972 to 1977 and as a product specialist for Siemens Corporation from 1977 to 1983. He then embarked on his career as an educator at Midwood High School and later joined the faculty at Erasmus High School. From 1984 to 1988, Dr. Roemer taught as a high school science and physics teacher at Edward R, Murrow High School. Though retired, he reminisces on his time teaching science, evolution, and his in-depth knowledge on the Shroud of Turin.
